HYPERION CRIUS FRESHLY IMPLANTED VIRUS THE FALL OF THE CRIUS TRIPLETS In the distant future, the moral struggle against cybernetic enhancements has been put to rest. The favoring party came out of this war victorious and soon it became the norm, especially for the upper class, to have implants: better legs, better eyes, a better brain. With the cybernetic enhancements came better and faster technology; it did not take long for enhanced humans to claim superiority over the less fortunate. Meanwhile, the opposition still tried to find a way to fight back and to renew the moral war. Deciding to fight fire with fire, they engineered a virus with the intention of simply deactivating the implants. When released, it spread like wildfire and became a full-blown pandemic. But the virus didn't destroy the implants. It mutated them. The virus turned the infected humans into Spectres. It did not matter whether it was a small chip in the back of the eye or a whole arm, the virus hit hard and fast, creating a malfunction in the organism. While it turned the enhanced humans stronger and, in a way, better, it also disconnected their personalities and their core selves, creating a whole new persona for each and every one that felt the need to both destroy humankind and enslave it, enforcing even more the mentality that enhancements are superior. That was nearly sixteen years ago; today, things are slightly different. Two years after the virus spread worldwide, people started to adapt and to find ways to fight the Spectres, resulting in the Scroungers, bounty hunters who collected prizes for each Spectre they killed, either by demand or by raiding the Spectre's possessions after their deaths. Their actions would make one think that they were welcomed, however they are not, for they willingly implant infected cybernetics into them, along with homemade anti-viruses that slow down the infection. It isn't 100% effective, however. Many still look for the cure, but so far it has been proven impossible, due to the constant mutation of the virus. Youngest of the Crius triplets, Hyperion was a freshly-implanted Scrounger in the beginning of an unfortunately not very brilliant career. His anti-virus and implants were managed by Apollo, his brother, and the operation they had organized together had the final intent of bringing back their third brother, Helios, lost to a virus one year prior. Hyperion knew fully well that there was a way of bringing their brother back completely - they just hadn't found it yet. But then Hyperion found Helios. Their struggle was violent, too soon to end without blood. Hyperion came out of it alive, but in no way triumphant. The death of a brother had more consequences than the ones in his heart - Helios' virus managed to stream its way into the back of Hyperion's brain and slowly began to override whatever humanity he still had left. Eerily identical to his now dead brother, Hyperion has not only changed his appearance to match his but has adopted traits from his personality and methods, going around gaining people's trust to infect or kill them when they least expect it.
